One Week Until Gauteng School Applications Open

If you are a parent or guardian who has been looking to enroll your child at a school in Gauteng for Grade 1 and 8, you only have to wait for one week before you can submit your online application. Here is all you need to know about the process and the closing deadline.

The Gauteng Department of Basic Education has recently announced that the application period for Grade 1 and Grade 8 at Gauteng public schools for the 2023 academic year gets underway on Friday 22 July 2023 at 08:00 am with the closing slated to be Friday 19 August 2023 at midnight.

The Department has also advised parents and guardians looking to enroll their children in Grade 1 and Grade 8 in 2023 to submit their online school admission applications on the department’s website by visiting www.gdeadmissions.gov.za

Among other things that the department wants applying parents to keep in mind is that there are walk-in centers at any nearby school available to assist them with submitting their applications.

For parents or guardians wanting to obtain a login, password, and other crucial information regarding the child’s application, they must provide one valid cell phone number.

All applicants also need to remember to upload certified copies of all required documents on the system or submit documents to the schools they applied to within 7 days of making the application.

Additionally, the department has also urged parents to log on to the system and accept the department’s offers for placement upon receiving an SMS notification from 3 October 2023 to 30 November 2023.
