Prospective students may still submit an application to Unisa for the 2023 academic year. Applications for undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and honors degrees are presently accepted.
Pretoria is home to the University of South Africa (Unisa). Nearly 400 000 students from all across the nation, continent, and globe are enrolled at the university.
The university website claims that Unisa is the most productive institution in South Africa. According to the website, almost 50 000 students acquire diplomas, certificates, and degrees each year.
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and degrees), postgraduate diplomas, and honours degrees for the 2023 academic year are open from 1 September to 14 October 2023. Students may apply for admission to masters and doctoral qualifications for the 2023 academic year on 11 September until 14 November.Â
The following students wanting to study a new qualification will need to apply for admission:
- First-time Unisa applicants.
- Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or specialization.
- Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space or who were offered a space accepted the offer and did not register.
- Students completing a higher certificate or any other programme and who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies.
Applications may be done online via the university website. Before applying students need to ensure that they meet the requirements for their chosen qualification. In the event that they do not meet the requirements, students are encouraged to consider alternative qualifications.
Students will need to upload the following documents when they apply:
- Copy of school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans.
Unisa encourages students who have previously applied before 2016 to upload all the necessary documents mentioned above. Failure to upload these documents will result in a delay in processing their application.
Applicants are notified that certain qualifications may require additional documents. The university reserves the right to request original documents and/to verify the accuracy of the documents at any time.
Once students receive their student number from the university they will be required to pay an application fee. The fee is non-refundable even if the student ends up not studying at the university. Please note that cash will not be accepted at any of the Unisa offices to pay for the application fee.
