What ‘SRD Grant Is Now Active’ Status Means

If you have applied for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, you can track your application. Should you receive a status that your grant is active, it’s best for you to follow through and check what it means.

The President introduced the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) due to pandemic adding on an existing unemployment rate.

The grant caters for unemployed South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years.

If you have submitted your application for the SRD grant, ‘SRD Grant Is Now Active’ might be the first application status that you see.

According to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) this means that the government agency has received your application and will communicate the outcome of your application in due course.

To track your application online, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the SASSA SRD grant website
  2. Scroll down to ‘Application status
  3. Click on ‘Click here to check online
  4. Fill in the required fields
  5. You should then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application
