Sassa claims that an online job posting is fake news.

Sassa has once more advised its recipients of social grants not to divulge private information to unauthorized persons, especially in light of recent posts on social media.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has warned recipients of social grants about a deceptive advertisement that has been circulating on social media.

The message in question appears to be a job vacancy advert that claims to have been sent by Sassa according to the agency’s social media post. They also claim that the agency currently has 160 000 vacancies for qualifying applicants.

In response, the South African Social Security Agency has confirmed that the social media post is false and that beneficiaries should always use their official channels to contact them.

“Please note that the below advert is FAKE and does not come from SASSA. All SASSA vacancies are advertised on national newspapers or on the agency’s website “

Additionally, Sassa also strongly urged grant recipients not to give their personal information to organizations posing as Sassa representatives. The official online channel through which beneficiaries can contact the agency is through its website (http://sassa.gov.za)

Sassa’s official mandate is to distribute social grants to the nation’s most vulnerable and underprivileged citizens. The following additional methods are available for contacting Sassa by grant applicants and recipients:
