The Kaduna State Governor-elect, Senator Uba Sani, has assured that his administration would carry all citizens in the state along regardless of their religion or ethnic background on the assumption of office on May 29, 2023.
The governor-elect, who stated this while receiving a group of pastors under the aegis of the Progressives Pastors Platforms, who paid him a solidarity visit, in Kaduna, the state capital, on Sunday, noted that his administration won’t discriminate against any citizens in the basis of religion or ethnicity.
According to him, Kaduna State belongs to all, adding also that “we will try as much as possible to carry everyone along whether you voted for us or not.”
Sani, who also received in audience governorship candidates of nine political parties, assured them that he would carry everybody along irrespective of religion, ethnicity, and political affinities in order to sustain even development in the state.
The nine political parties include Action Alliance, Social Democratic Party, Boot Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, National Rescue Movement, Action Peoples Party, African Democratic Congress, Accord Party, and Peoples Redemption Party.
Addressing the clerics, the governor-elect said, “Today, I am happy because the pastors sitting before me have chosen the path of development and progress of our own state over the parochial issues of religion and ethnicity.
“I am also happy that you have accepted to work with us. And we have accepted to carry everyone along. We will not discriminate on the basis of religion and ethnicity. We are all citizens of Kaduna State. Kaduna belongs to all of us.
“We will try as much as possible to carry everyone along whether you voted for us or not. This is what we need at this time.
“Other political parties that contested with me have come to me and demonstrated their own support for me so we can move Kaduna forward together.
“We will make everybody comfortable in Kaduna State irrespective of religion and ethnicity. Kaduna State is the only state that has abolished the dichotomy between indigene and citizen. We will continue to sustain this. We will fight to end the politics of religion in our state. Now the election is over it is time we bring everybody on board to work together.”
Earlier, the National Coordinator, of Progressive Pastors Platforms, Rev. Emmanuel Adebayo, told the governor-elect that he would commence building bridges across the divide now that the election is over.
This, he said, was because there was “sharp bitterness” that characterized the just-concluded governorship election in the state.
“We want to advise that you begin to build bridges across the segment of the society because there is a sharp bitterness that characterized this last election. And we as a group have agreed to go on advocacy to bring everyone on board to support you in this onerous task of governing Kaduna state,” he added.
Meanwhile, the governor-elect thanked the governorship candidates for their solidarity visit and willingness to partner with him to move the state forward.
“When I look at the manifestoes of all the political parties that are here, we have something in common. We have similar things in education, healthcare development, the issue of security, and our support for our teaming youths.
“
This is the rationale behind my conviction that, by God’s help, we can cooperate to advance Kaduna State.
They came to congratulate the governor-elect on his victory at the polls, said Timothy Adamu, the Action Alliance candidate for governor, who earlier spoke on behalf of the other candidates.
“We all disagreed with you, but as the phrase goes, God alone makes the decisions. God bestows authority on whom He pleases and at the appropriate moment, continued Adamu.
