How To Submit R350 Grant Appeals Under The New Rules

To all eligible beneficiaries, the Sassa R350 Social Relief of Distress payment is being paid. Here is the process for filing an appeal for your denied Sassa R350 grant application if you’re one of the people who has been meaning to do so because of your application’s rejection status.

As the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) continues disbursing the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, the agency has also had to address a huge SRD grant payment backlog of applicants who have lodged application appeals after their initial application.

If you are one of the many applicants who saw their SRD grant application declined and you are not sure about how to go to Sassa to appeal for your R350 grant. This is the appeal process to follow.

How To Submit Sassa R350 Grant Appeal Under New Rules

  1. Visit srd.dsd.gov.za
  2. Click on the green bar that says ‘click here to lodge an appeal or check appeal status
  3. Enter your ID number
  4. Enter your cellphone number
  5. Click ‘send pin’ and wait for the SMS which will contain the verification pin
  6. Enter the pin and click ‘submit’
  7. Select the month you are submitting an appeal for
  8. Select the drop-down arrow and choose the reason for your appeal
  9. Click ‘submit’

You must also file an appeal for each month that your request was turned down. An impartial panel will examine appeal applications.

The Independent Tribunal’s processes were combined with Sassa’s processes because it already had information from applicants from Sassa, which resulted in a minimal and constrained appeals process.

The Independent Tribunal will then look into the matter to see if Sassa made any errors in examining your application, which ultimately led to its denial.

Although it is suggested that applicants submit their appeal within the first 30 days of learning that their application has been refused, the deadline is 90 days. Following that, Sassa will let applicants know whether or not their appeal was successful.
