Gauteng Education employees have gone to the streets to encourage the community of Orange Farm to apply for online admissions for Grade One and Eight for the 2023 school year. Parents and caregivers are urged to do so as there isn’t much time left.
Earlier this year, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) experienced some technical issues due its online system not being able to handle high volumes of applications at the same time.
Thereafter, the department confirmed that its system was then well functional and parents were then encouraged to make their online applications for admission for next year.

The Online Admissions System will close on 19 August 2023 at midnight.
The Education Department employees have paid a visit to Orange Farm, encouraging the community to apply on time for Grade 1 & Grade 8 before applications close today at midnight.
GDE spokesperson, Steve Mabona said parents and caregivers who want to apply for other grades should directly go to their school of choice to submit an application.
To complete an application, parents, and caregivers may log on the department’s admissions website. Create a username and password, then register their details. The system will then guide the applicant through five steps to make an application.
It is important to use the correct details as placement offers will be sent to the cellphone number the parent/guardian registered with, from 3 October 2023 to 30 November 2023. Parents also have the option to check the status of the learner’s application by logging in to their profile.
