Every parent who has submitted their 2023 school admission applications for their children has a very limited time to do so according to the Department of Basic Education in Limpopo. By the end of the day, the department hopes to complete the registration process.
On Tuesday earlier this week, the Limpopo Provincial Education Department opened registrations for school admissions for Grades R through 11 for 2023.
So if you live in Limpopo and want to enroll your children in a school in the province next year, be aware that today marks the closing application deadline. Applicants have been urged to register as soon as possible by the department.
As it stated in a statement by the department, admission applications opened on May 24 of this year and are scheduled to close today. The department added that, with effect from 2023, walk-in applications will be the only ones accepted for learner admission to public schools.
Lerule-Ramakhanya, the MEC for Education for Limpopo, has emphasized the value of being proactive as it will decrease the challenges that districts and schools face each year when it comes to yearly registration.
The provincial department’s focus, according to Limpopo Education spokesperson Mike Maringa, is on the lower classes (grades R and 1) and students who are either changing schools or progressing to senior high schools.
In addition to this, the provincial MEC pleaded with parents, particularly those who live in townships and villages, to not choose schools located in urban areas over schools closer to their homes since they share a common curriculum.
The MEC further stated that enrollment in the majority of rural schools has been drastically reduced as a result of learners being transferred from village and township schools to urban schools. Schools that don’t reach the required standard have had to merge or close as a result of this.
Applicants will receive application feedback by the end of August 2023, while returning learner applicants will receive confirmation forms in September 2023. The department will announce the total number of applications it has received and processed after the registration procedure has been concluded.
